ACHIEVEMENTS




    

  • Implemented Free Medical Outreach and Mission program on Roll Back Malaria Campaign, RDT malaria testing, ACT and LLIN in  Ejeme Aniogor, Delta State, Nigeria in 2016. There was a high level of malaria infection in this environment. 3000 people were enlightened on the causes of malaria and its prevention. Test was conducted and ACT Drugs were administered.
  • Implemented Free Medical Outreach and Mission program on distribution of Vitamins A, E and Albendazole tablets sponsored Vitamin Angels in Ejeme Aniogor, Delta State, Nigeria in 2016. The Albendazole tablets were adminstered to 1000 children.
  • Implemented Roll Back Malaria Campaign in five Local LGAs of Imo State, Nigeria (Ideato South and Ideato North, Oru East, Oru West and Oguta LGA). The programme was sponsored by the Society for Family Health (SFH) Imo State 2008. 20,000 mosquito nets were distributed to 10,000 households.
  • Participated as an observer in Nigeria 2011 General Elections in Isiala Mbano LGA, sponsored by Transition Monitoring Group (TMG). 
  • Implemented a campaign against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM in 10 communities in Uturu, Isiukwuato Local Government area of Abia State, in 2005 - 2006 Nigeria in partnership with Better Community Life Initiative BECOLIN and sponsored by Friendly Environment and Human Development (FEHD) Foundation, (a woman NGO)  The programme was sponsored by United States Democracy and Human Rights Fund. FGM practice was reduced by 95% in the project communities thereafter.
  • Implemented HIV/AIDS program on prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) education program in eighteen communities in Imo State in 2015. Partnered with SPRING AID, There was an increased awareness of the cause, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in the project communities.
  • Implemented a campaign against female genital mutilation (FGM) in Ohoba, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area (LGA) Imo State, sponsored by BECOLlN in 2004. There was high awareness of the problems associated with FGM in the community and the reduction of the practice by 80% thereafter.  
  • Implemented a ten-day campaign against the spread of HIV/AIDS among motorcycle operators  and long distance drivers in Owerri, Imo State, sponsored by IFES&D Africa in 2005. 
  • Conducted civic/voter education programme for rural women in Ohaji Egbema communities, Imo State in February 2007 to enable them participate actively in 2007 general elections in Nigeria. It was sponsored by IFES&D Africa. 
  • Campaign to discontinue Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in 10 communities in Oguta LGA Imo State. Sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Abuja in 2014. Partnered with BECOLIN.
  • Implemented campaign against  Girl Child Trafficking in 3communities in Imo State. The project was sponsored by IFES& D Africa in 2012






ON-GOING PROJECTS
  • IFES&D Africa launches the Build Up Africa campaign called M.E.C.H: Missions, Education, Community Development and Health in 2016. This campaign focuses on Health and Education in the slum communities. The Build Up Africa campaign is a grass root network of team from USA to Africa.
  • IFES& D Africa is a partner with Society for Family Health (SFH) in Global Fund malaria project for Roll Back Malaria program. IFES&D Africa has carried out social mobilization for environmental sanitation, distributed 4000 long lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets to 4000 pregnant and nursing mothers in 10 communities in Oru East LGA in Imo State of Nigeria. 
  • Team training: IFES&D Africa continue to update her team skills through in-house training and external capacity building workshops in Nigeria.
  • Community Herd Testing for Malaria Parasite in Oru East, Oru West and Njaba LGAs Imo State Sponsored by Society for Family Health (SFH).
  • Distributions of Vitamin products and Albendazole  to children in 10 LGAs, Imo State and Delta State being sponsored by Vitamin Angels, Canada
